PINJARRA EARLY YEARS PRE-SCHOOL NEWSLETTER
July - September 2011
BABY CENTRE
Well the year has certainly flown by as we enter into the last week of August. The children have continued to develop at an amazing rate as we see new skills developing each day. With more and more milestones being reached, we are continuing to change and add to our program allowing the children to practice and extend upon their development. A big thank you to all parents who have given us great feedback which has allowed us to incorporate the children's interests at home within the Pinjarra environment. Please feel free to approach any staff about areas of development you have noticed your child becoming more interested in or even areas you have noticed that needs a little more attention. We are more than happy to hear these ideas and suggestions to add to our program.
Over the past few weeks we have had some new friends join our babies family and would like to welcome you all. Sebastian Conn, Leo Carlisle, Liam Wong, Ethan Jauncey, Jacob Hackett, Amy Jung and finally our new baby centre staff member Ash Foster. Ash is working fulltime and has taken Carmen's days, who is now on maternity leave. Ash has been a great addition to baby centre team and all the children have really enjoyed her fun and energetic nature.
We would all so wish to congratulate Carmen and Jason on the arrival of their baby boy Lincoln. He was born on Sunday the 24th of July at 4.38pm, he weighed 3.3kg and 51 cm long. Both mum and him are doing very well and are looking forward to coming in soon to visit us all!
As we come closer and closer to the end of the year, we have started to practice a few of our self-help skills. We started off encouraging the children to feed themselves with little assistance from staff. This certainly has been a fun and very messy experience for all but the children have shown such pride in their achievements. We have also created a little bedroom in the down stairs play area. Some children have moved from cots to bed. The children certainly have enjoyed this transition seeing themselves as 'big kids' now. Over the coming months we will start to move more children from cots to beds allowing them to get used to the sleeping areas in preparation for the year to come.
Just a few reminders
· We understand that in the morning it can be a little bit of a rush for you to get the children ready as well as having breakfast, but we strongly urge parents to please not allow your child to come into the centre carrying food. We have a few more children in baby centre who are HIGHLY ALLERGIC to ingredients found in common food and can't allow the risk of them going into anaphylactic shock.
Please remember that our centre is not licensed under the regulation until 8am. Because of this, we ask that you please wait outside and a staff member will welcome you at the door when it is time to come in.
With the weather becoming very unpredictable, please ensure you have a variety of appropriate clothes in your child's bag - and plenty of them! This allows us to change your child if they get wet, or dirty throughout the day, or even if they become too hot or cold
All in all, we look forward to the next few months, watching these babies grow into well developed, beautiful young children.
From the babies centre staff, Tegan, Kat, Nic, Bec and Ash.
